Meet Spirit. While most of us were celebrating the holidays, poor Spirit was having less of a good time.
He was found by pure chance. Initally thought to be a dead rabbit, casulty of a car accident, it was the refection of light in his eyes that saved him.
Almost dead from shock and cold, we rushed him to a vet as soon as he came to us. Spirit was treated for his shock and kept warm overnight to see how he would fare.
And what a difference a day made! Once he recovered from the trauma however it became obvious that something else was wrong with this poor boy, so back to the vet and x-rays were taken.
Spirt it seemed had been the victim of a car accident, both his right front and left back legs had been broken. Now he was feeling better a much clearer picture of his state could be assesed. Spirit was filthy, he suffered from lice and ear mites and was strongly suspected of a bad case of internal parasites as well. All these were treated and he was put on medication for pain. Despite the damage, it was agreed to treat him conservatively as further stress to his tiny body could cause further problems.
Sprirt has been perscribed box rest to allow his broken body to heal and is progressing very well! It has been a challange mind you! The fiesty little guy was not happy with this and displayed his outrage by trying to climb the restriction cage one pawed!! Thankfully he has settled now food is a regualr thing and is beginning to show big improvements.
He's still a little grubby around the edges as cleaning one self with two legs misbehaving is not the easiest you know!
Keep watching for updates on this very very lucky boy!
